Mechanical Systems Designers
Specific experience in one or more of the following is required:
- Design of automated and robotic systems
- Design of machinery in mining or other heavy industry
- Design of hydraulic and pneumatic control systems
- Design using 3D CAD systems (SolidWorks, Microstation, AutoCAD, Inventor etc.)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills is a requirement
- Must be able to work independently on a complete design package or in a team environment
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- Machine Control and Safety standards familiarity
- Knowledge of instrumentation and electrical control systems experience would be an asset
- Startup and commissioning experience would be an asset
- Post-installation troubleshooting and customer support is an integral part of this position
- Professional designation with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) is an asset
- Ability to occasionally travel locally and abroad
KEY FUNCTIONS

- Develop design concepts of automation equipment, and hydraulic and pneumatic control systems
- Develop, review and verify automation models in 2D and 3D CAD systems
- Review, check and develop detailed construction and fabrication drawing packages for various design concepts using CAD systems
- Assist on machine assembly and plumbing verifications
- Conduct technical studies, equipment and systems performance audits and generate reports
- Write technical documents and reports for various stages on mining and industrial projects
- Test and commission systems at factory and customer facilities
- Lead project technical design teams
- Manage projects and customer communications as required
