Automation Designers and Programmers
Specific experience in one or more of the following is required:
- Design and programming for common industrial PLC platforms (Rockwell / Schneider / Siemens, DCS etc.)
- Design using AutoCAD Electrical, Microstation, AutoCAD etc.
- Programming or Design of automated and robotic systems (Kuka, ABB, Fanuc, etc.)
- Underground Mobile Equipment Design or Programming
- Programming or Design of machinery in mining or other heavy industry
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills is a requirement
- Must be able to work independently on a complete design package or in a team environment
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- Machine Safety standards familiarity
- Electrical power distribution design experience would be an asset
- Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems would be an asset
- Startup and commissioning experience is a requirement
- Post-installation troubleshooting and customer support is an integral part of this position
- Professional designation with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) or a P.Eng. in other Canadian provinces is an asset
- Ability to occasionally travel locally and abroad
KEY FUNCTIONS

- Develop detailed programs and concepts of automation and control systems
- Review, check and develop detailed drawing packages for various design concepts using CAD systems
- Develop, review and verify automation programs (PLC, HMI, Robotics)
- Assist on machine wiring and control systems verification
- Conduct technical studies, equipment and systems performance audits and generate reports
- Write technical documents and reports for various stages on mining and industrial projects
- Test and commission systems at factory and customer facilities
- Lead project technical design teams
- Manage projects and customer communications as required
